Business Data Analytics Course

The training material provided by the University of Tartu is about the Business Data Analytics course. This course is meant for students as a hands-on experience for solving business problems in the fields of sales, marketing, and business operations by applying statistical analysis and data mining techniques. In particular, the course provides firstly a basic introduction and background with respect to business data analytics as well as to R, where the students get familiar with various data descriptive and visualization methods. We created this course as more of a problem oriented, in which we introduce various problems with respect to business analytics keeping customers as a main central entity. Thus, we introduce topics about customer segmentation and customer lifecycle. In each of these chapters, we discussed various use cases and solutions from machine learning. In addition, the course also had lectures with respect to up-selling and cross-selling topic, where we discuss solutions from recommendation domain. An important topic, especially with respect to online scenario, about AB testing was also part of the course. In the future, we are extending this 8 week lecture into 16 weeks lecture, where we plan to cover more topics such as fraud detection and link analysis to name a few.
