Validity

the purpose of a screening test is to correctly identify individuals who do and do not have preclinical disease. The who have preclinical disease should test positive, and those who do not have it shold test negative. The ability of a screening test to successfully separate these two groups is a measure of its validity, which is expressed by its ensitivity and specificity.
